Los Angeles

Yasaman designs living things.

Yasaman Sheri is a designer and creative director who works in the field of sensing and perception, and currently works as a principal designer and curator at IKEA research and design lab SPACE10. Passionate about networks in nature and machines, she explores design beyond the visual interface, and was part of the Ginkgo Bioworks Residency.

She led design interactions at Microsoft Hololens Operating System team for five years, designing interfaces using gesture, machine vision, and spatial interactions. Further explorations in augmented reality—involving haptics, flavors, and smell—have led her to collaborations with Toyota, Mozilla XR Studio, Google (X), Sissel Tolaas, and Yeast Lab. Yasaman also teaches Sensory Design at the Copenhagen Institute for Interaction Design.
