Bem leads students in an exploration of the unknown.
Bem is the founding course director of the Bachelor of Creative Intelligence and Innovation (BCII) program at the University of Technology, Sydney, a transdisciplinary, future-facing degree that combines 25 different disciplines to explore unknowns and investigate the challenges of our times. She has a BA and MA in social anthropology from Cambridge University and a doctorate from the University of Sydney, as well as professional qualifications in journalism and advertising, having worked in the creative industries for three decades.
Bem is also a novelist and has been published globally to critical acclaim, and has written scripts for documentaries and film. Her fourth novel, Elephants with Headlights, was published in March 2020. She is currently researching creativity in education and ways to deliver a “Curriculum for Being” across communities of learning and practice.
