Joshua fights for self-determination in Hong Kong.

Joshua is one of the leading activists of Hong Kong's pro-democracy movement and was the Secretary-General of the now disbanded Demosisto, a pro-democracy organization that he founded in 2016 to advocate for self-determination in Hong Kong. He entered the political scene in 2011, at the age of 14, when he founded Scholarism and successfully protested against the enforcement of Chinese National Education in Hong Kong. Since then he has been arrested by the Chinese state numerous times for his protesting and activism, has served more than 100 days in jail, and, in 2018 was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his leading role in the Umbrella Revolution. He has been the subject of two documentaries, including the Netflix original Joshua: Teenager vs Superpower, and been named one of the world’s most influential leaders by TIME, Fortune, Prospect, and Forbes.
